Letter: YourSay - Yellow peril.

Byline: D Woods

SO THE city council is considering plans to fine illegal parkers pounds 120 for 'deliberately parking on a yellow line' (Mail, August 3). How many of us can afford to pay that?

Perhaps it will play fair by first erecting better signs to warn motorists where they can and cannot park.

In particular, if you walk round town on any Sunday you'll see motorists regularly falling for the single yellow line trap. These lines are often quite short in length and in between normal parking bays. But many seem to have no real purpose, certainly not at weekends, so motorists assume they'll be able to park in them.

Wrong! You can guarantee that if you park on one, a man in a hat will be issuing you a ticket before you've even been gone ten minutes.
