Letter: YourSay - Villan-ous plate.

Byline: Natalie Barroccu

YOU printed an article 'Meet the man who really is selling Villa' (Mail, August 4).

The article surrounded the efforts to sell the registration mark Y111 AFC that had been made to look like Villa FC.

Any prospective purchaser should heed the following words of caution.

The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency have policy responsibility for the Road Vehicles (Display of Registration Marks) Regulations 2001.

The regulations specify the character size, font, colour and spacing that registration marks must comply with.

The misrepresentation of registration marks can make vehicles difficult to identify and can hamper police efforts to trace vehicles involved in incidents such as hit and run collisions or serious crimes.

It is an offence to alter, re-arrange or misrepresent the characters in a way that makes it difficult to distinguish the registration mark.
