DENNIS Amiss is spot on in his belief that Test Cricket will be played over fewer days in the future. I also believe that four-day Championship cricket will be replaced by one innings per team matches played over two days.

When Warwickshire can attract 17,000 people for a midweek Twenty20 game, what is the point of staging a game that will attract less than one thousand spectators spread over four days?

Cricket clubs have to put on a product the public want to watch. Although last year's Ashes Series drew record crowds, this year's Series against Sri Lanka will be played in grounds less than half full.
