Letter: Your Say - What about a house swap?

Byline: S Hancox

PETER and Frances Hines of Cannon Park are delighted at the proposed Lidl development in Binley Road (Telegraph, March 30). I don't believe they would be quite so keen if the store was going to be just 100 metres from their home.

We have lived at this address for almost 50 years and while agreeing the site needs some improvement, we are disappointed that such a large store, in a city which already has many superstores, is to be built so close to houses.

In light of concerns regarding global warming and climate change I am surprised that consideration has not been given to making the proposed store more environmentally friendly, for example, adding a "green roof" of succulent sedum plants. This is becoming more common for new developments, particularly in Germany.

Would Mr and Mrs Hines like to swap houses? I don't think so.
