Letter: Your Say - Unforgettable year serving our city.

Byline: Dave Batten

AS First Citizen, it has been a great honour and an enormous pleasure to serve the city. If ever there is a year never to be forgotten, it is the year of being Lord Mayor of our great city.

To witness at first hand the tremendous work and dedication carried out by businesses, schools, community and voluntary organisations makes my wife and I feel so very proud and privileged to have represented Coventry as its First Citizens.

Living here in Coventry all our lives has been proved to be the right decision, as it is my opinion that there is no other city with such a richness of history, an ability to adopt changes and engage with all our communities in working together in harmony.

The opportunity for the city council to be awarded the Cross of Nails as the symbol and as a centre for peace and reconciliation in my year of office was one of the many highlights of being Lord Mayor.

I would like to thank all the people of Coventry who have given me their support over the years, in particular my year of office, and allowing me to become the city's First Citizen.
