Letter: Your Say - Pub rules rarely put into action.

Byline: S Whale

WITH reference to the Wetherspoon pub chain ruling, which limits drinks to adults with children.

Those opposed should not worry and those who support it should not expect it to be put into effect. Why? Because all Wetherspoon's users who have to wait and wait to be served know their policy of employing the minimum number of staff, meaning such initiatives are rarely put into effect.

A previous announcement was that foul language would not be tolerated. This has not worked. Another ruling is that staff are instructed not to turn pump clips around when beers are unavailable. The instruction to put a note on the pump clip "not available" is usually ignored by the overworked and constantly changing staff.
