Letter: Your Say - Paying over odds; In association with POST OFFICE.

Byline: R Bourne

OVER some considerable time I've been requested by Telewest Broadband and now Virgin Media to pay my bills by direct debit.

You may call me old fashioned, but I prefer to pay by cash.

However, the administration charge, handling charge or whatever you like to call it has risen from pounds 1 to pounds 5 for each monthly bill.

I don't mind paying my way, but this appears to be a form of blackmail.

Is it right by law that Richard Branson can charge such a fee?
