Letter: Your Say - No funds for op.

Byline: Gillian Mansell

I ATTENDED the Birmingham and Midland Eye Centre at City Hospital. I was referred that day by my optician with blurred vision in my left eye.

After my consultations with the doctor I was told I had a condition called macular hole which is in the retina. The sight will not get better unless I have an operation.

Then I was told there is no NHS funding for this operation. I will have to get it done privately. Yet the planned new hospital will cost pounds 366 million. Parts of Sandwell have just been rebuilt and parts of City Hospital seem new. It seems mad so much money to rebuild a new hospital but patients cannot get treatment they need.
