Letter: Your Say - No difference.

Byline: Robert Betteridge

IT WAS reassuring to read Coun Deirdre Alden's assertions that "for the first time in my memory we have a partnership between two quite separate political parties who have put their differences aside to run Birmingham" (Mail, January 20).

It was but a short time ago that her husband, the amiable John Alden, was acrimoniously sacrificed to placate the whinging Lib/Dem faction who wanted greater equilibrium in the share of cabinet posts. A surprising lapse of memory on Mrs Alden's part!

I suppose the real test of this particular marriage is if either party gains an overall majority. A divorce is bound to quickly ensue and it will undoubtedly all end in tears.
