Letter: Your Say - Humps upset traffic balance.

Byline: Vincent Hamersley

. . .I HOPE that Frank Beresford (Your Say, May 23) did not expect any sympathy from Cllr Tony O'Neill when his Neighbourhood Watch group voiced concern about the unnecessary and damaging speed humps in Parkhill Drive. It was Cllr O'Neill who arranged for more than pounds 40,000 of our money to be spent on these monstrosities.

I understand that councillors have a discretionary fund that they can spend on "perceived" problems. Basically, this is cash which is used to pacify groups such as those who lobbied for Parkhill Drive to be a no-through road.

I would have thought that any available money would be better spent addressing real problems.

Vincent Hamersley, Upper Eastern Green Lane.
