Letter: Your Say - Bank charges are outrageous.

I RECEIVED a bank charge of pounds 58 for an unpaid cheque, as I never had enough funds to cover the cheque, and an additional pounds 28 unauthorised overdraft fee.

Then every month was added pounds 28 plus interest, totalling my account to over pounds 312 overdrawn.

I confronted the bank about these unfair charges and it is refusing to do anything about them.

Feeling beaten by the bank I offered to pay back the money in instalments as I am out of work at the moment - it refused. As a last resort, I requested that it freeze my account to stop any further charges, and guess what, it refused.

And it said unless the balance is cleared and next month's charges paid, then my account will continue to incur charges. I am not the only person, others I know have had the same problem.
