Letter: YOUR SHOUT - Hand-washing doesn't help.

Byline: G BREEDEN

CONSIDERING the report on people having unclean hands, I think the problem lies, largely, in the design of public toilets.

It is pointless to wash your hands after using a public toilet if you need to, afterwards, do such things as:

1. Turn off a tap.

2. Turn on a hand dryer.

3. Handle a towel holder.

4. And most importantly, use a door handle in order to leave.

All the public toilets I know of, including those in department stores, require you to either pull or push a door upon leaving.

Motorway service stations have toilets that do not require you to touch anything after washing. Others should follow suit.
