Letter: Worthy choice.

Byline: R Neville Johnson

YOUR correspondent, PD Jones ( Letters, June 30, 2004) has the temerity to raise the question of track records in relation to Wirral Conservatives.

The track record is that the last two Members of Parliament for Wirral (and then Wirral West) chosen by the Conservatives both had distinguished political careers and attained Cabinet rank. Esther McVey's qualities make her a worthy successor. At the appropriate time, the electorate will have the opportunity to judge.

Meanwhile, had June 10 been the General Election, Miss McVey would now be the Member of Parliament for Wirral West. PD Jones is on the wrong track.
