Letter: Woodside event.
AS WE are from "over the water", my family and I stumbled upon the Mathew Street Music Festival on Sunday rather by chance than intention.
We were visiting the Liverpool Life Museum with our children fo r the themed Roman weekend.
We followed the crowds to the Pier Head in time to see the Buzzcocks and Stranglers perform and also enjoyed The Mags and Diesel Fitters.
We decided to come back on the Monday, but because of the crowds decided to see what the Woodside venue had to offer.
I note from your coverage in Tuesday's paper that the Woodside venue was only mentioned in passing.
I realise that the big names were in Liverpool, but would like to say how fantastic the tribute bands were that came to Birkenhead, particularly Claptonite (Eric Clapton) and Rocks Off (The Rolling Stones).
The crowd did increase as the day went on, and it was great to see the spirit with which the crowd enjoyed the bands. Even in Liverpool on Sunday, it was a far cry from the horrific things that have happened in the city over recent weeks.
We intend to plan our visit to the festival next year and hope that Birkenhead will continue to be a venue.
It was a great afternoon and the organisation of the event was excellent. The organisation of events during 2008 will be just as well orchestrated, won't it
