Letter: Tory hypocrisy on jobs.

Byline: Karen Sinclair

I WAS absolutely staggered to read the comments of Cheryl Gillan in Thursday's Daily Post in which she criticised Labour ministers for their actions over Airbus, claiming they were not doing enough to protect North Wales jobs.

The hypocrisy of such a statement is amazing. Airbus have been able to create a world class plant at Broughton, in part because of the hard work Labour governments in Westminster and in Cardiff have put in to make the area and its workforce an attractive place to invest.

Where were the Conservative government when North Wales was losing manufacturing jobs hand over fist during the 1980s and early 1990s?

People in North Wales remember the legacy of the Tory years - communities decimated and hope destroyed by a government that simply did not care. Ms Gillan should think carefully before making such insensitive comments again.
