Letter: The Gravell Cup.

Byline: Sion Jones, Bethesda

AS a passionate Welshman, I was shocked to see that the upcoming game between Us and the Springboks is to be called the Prince William Cup.

Now is not the time to argue the case against the association with the British Royal family, suffice it to say that it is anachronistic and historically irrelevant to modern Wales.

I would dearly love to see the WRU standing up for what is right and make a U Turn by re naming the game after a true latter day Welsh prince. RAY GRAVELL.

To play for the Ray Gravell cup would be an honour for any man Welsh or otherwise. This would be a fitting tribute to a lovely, brave, inspiration of a man that is Grav.

So why not forget this weak and insipid link with an English rugby supporting Royal and be brave. Nail your colours to the mast for once and make us proud WRU. Re-name the cup to the Ray Gravell Cup.
