Letter: The BIG issue - We can't get it white.

Byline: Jane Bradley

SIX million workers across Britain took a second day off work this week and 11,000 schools stayed closed after snow storms brought the country to a halt. You think more should have been done to keep the road and transport networks running...

I REMEMBER very well the snowfall of February 1991.

We were near Sandbach, Cheshire, when the pipes of our car froze solid. When we called in at a hotel we noticed a bedraggled couple who had ploughed into a car which had crashed into a snow drift.

They called the police from the hotel but they couldn't help as all their 4x4 s were stuck in drifts and all the country roads were blocked by snow.

That was a year to remember!
