GORDON Brown announced a surprise 2p cut in income tax from 22p to 20p in what is expected to be his final Budget before he is chosen as the next Prime Minister. The Chancellor also pledged an increase in child benefit and more investment in education and the NHS. And Mr Brown was in the news earlier this week when civil servant Lord Turnbull branded him Stalinist. Here are your views...

THE Chancellor's announcement of a 2p cut in income tax starting in April 2008 means the next Budget could easily wipe out any savings we may get from this.

Also, why is it that price rises are always brought into immediate effect but we have to wait for any cuts?
