GORDON Brown announced a surprise 2p cut in income tax from 22p to 20p in what is expected to be his final Budget before he is chosen as the next Prime Minister. The Chancellor also pledged an increase in child benefit and more investment in education and the NHS. And Mr Brown was in the news earlier this week when civil servant Lord Turnbull branded him Stalinist. Here are your views...

GORDON Brown's Budget is a blueprint for future growth. Pensioners - too often forgotten - families, education and business will all benefit.

No doubt the critics will whinge about it being aimed to boost his chances of becoming Prime Minister but there's something in it for everyone.

Apathy at the polls at the next election will only allow the opposition parties to gain momentum and, heaven forbid, enable a Tory victory - which surely no one who remembers Thatcher's legacy wants.
