Letter: The BIG issue - G8 is summit of greed.

Byline: Tony Wiggans

SHORTLY after urging families not to throw away food, Gordon Brown and world leaders enjoyed a lavish banquet at the start of the G8 summit to discuss world famine. You brand G8 leaders hypocrites, but also believe we could do more to stop waste at home...

GORDON Brown's belief that we throw away pounds 450 worth of food a year is hogwash. A few of the well-off may think nothing of wasting food, but most people can't afford to do so.

He is saying this to deflect attention away from the main factor pushing up the prices in the shops and that's the skyhigh cost of petrol.
