Letter: Psychiatric butchery.
May I suggest that the greatest and most heinous scandal to arise in the health service is in mental health - in psychiatric medicine.
Possibly during the past 60 years in mental institutions, surgeons have been performing frontal lobotomies and leucotomies on patients.
I fear the worst, that the Government is going to seek parliamentary legislation in order to disenfranchise and so prevent lobotomised or leucotomised individuals from seeking damages from the offending doctors and corresponding health authorities.
In every mental home or institution nearly 50% of men and women have undergone lobotomy during the last 30 to 40 years. The actual percentage of lobotomised patients may be nearer 70% or 80% (who have undergone surgery).
I do pray and hope that such ungodliness is not performed on patients in modern and civilised society nowadays.
It occurs to me that successive health ministers were well informed and knew about this terrible mutilation of psychiatric patients.
