Letter: Poor state of gritting.

Byline: COLIN VAUSE

ON the morning of January 20 as I set off to go to town I could not believe my eyes.

Many of our side roads were like skating rinks covered in black ice.

I saw two cars skid on one.

On another I picked up an elderly gentleman who had fallen.

Has health and safety gone out of the window or what?

Why were these roads not gritted? We pay our council tax, not just to subsidise councillors but for safety. Let's wake up to it.
