Letter: Patriotism stance is 'rich'.
GORDON BROWN wants us to fly the Union Flag at every possible occasion and show our patriotism.
After years of aiding and abetting his friend and neighbour, Tony Blair, to give away the sovereignty of the United Kingdom to the corrupt and economically useless European Union - that is rich.
There have been many occasions in the past when the English were afraid to fly a flag, being told they needed planning permission to do so. The Scots were not so inhibited, flying the sal tire all over the place. In fact, many English did not realise that the Cross of St George was the English flag, so bad was the situation.
By all means, fly the flag, I am all in favour' but let us have a reason so to do. Stop obeying the edicts of the undemocratic EU which are often stupid in the extreme, frequently countermanding previous orders, to no purpose.
Get Britain out of this dictatorship and let us be governed democratically by our own Parliament.
It is the present Government that created the situation where a "right wing" group took the national flag as an emblem of patriotism and racism. These two are completely different ideas and only the first should be recognised as worthwhile.
