Letter: On empty.

Byline: JOAN McTIGUE

THE Labour Party's favourite "think tank" has something in common with Thomas The Tank Engine in my opinion - both are a source of amusement.

Their latest little "gem" is if we can't get rid of Christmas (who wants to?) we must mark other big religious festivals too. The Public Policy Research report offers a range of ideas in order to boost race relations.

To help immigrants, the authors have suggested dismantling as many "national culture" barriers as possible. The report also suggests that Parliament and the monarchy be stripped of Christmas rituals.

Though the authors have been ridiculed, thousands will have been spent on this report. It beggars belief the Government pay people huge sums of money to come up with rubbish like this.
