Letter: Oh, the banter.

ELAINE C. SMITH seems to be offended at "anti-Scottish rhetoric" from England. You miss the point, Elaine. For years, we English have listened politely to what we thought was anti-English rhetoric from Scotland. We are now convinced by the explanation that it is only banter towards the auld enemy. We were wrong to take offence and are just joining in. What might appear to be a rise in anti-Scottish feelings here in England, is only jolly banter from the auld enemy. - D.
