Letter: Mailbag - I wasn't being 'unjust'.
CLR Murphy claims I have been "unjust" in claiming he overstated the possibility of a Flockton bypass in his election leaflets (Mailbag August 1). He does, however, fail to explain why I was being "unjust."
Questions remain over the likelihood of getting the millions needed to build a bypass and whether we secure the land needed to build a bypass. We don't need to spend pounds 35,000 to answer these very basic questions.
Spending money on documents and plans does give the appearance of activity and makes a good press release. But it is not good politics, nor does it respect the intelligence of voters.
As for my supposed opposition to a Flockton relief road. Clr Murphy will search in vain to find any statement by me to that effect in anything I've said or written. As with so many things, just because the Conservatives say something it doesn't mean it's true.
