Letter: Let Kashmiris sort it out.

Byline: STEVE KIRKHAM

Sir, - Were your correspondent, Samia Mazid (Post, Apr 29), a little less biased he might denounce both the Indian and Pakistan territorial occupation of Kashmir.

He might deplore the ceding of Kashmir territory to China and the scandal of military madness that fuels the line of control but languishes Asian people into poverty or illiteracy.

He might strive to suggest that Kashmiri folk had the opportunity to have a free, fair election in which their rights to statehood could be determined without their nation being a pawn in the Pak-Bharat battle.

Instead of waging battles by proxy, is it a novel idea that Kashmiri people sort their nation out for themselves?

STEVE KIRKHAM Kings Heath.
