Letter: Israel problem must be addressed.

Byline: FRANK LEEMING

Sir, - The whole country has felt the grief of the families who have lost their loved ones in this war with Saddam Hussein.

This war was, the politicians assured us, to get rid of weapons of mass destruction.

The coalition forces have laid down their lives and we have much to be thankful for.

They have made many sacrifices on our behalfs and we mourn for them and their families.

I sincerely hope our Prime Minister realises how close he brought our country to disaster.

I hope he realises that we will not follow him and George W Bush into Syria looking for these elusive weapons of mass destruction that Mr Rumsfeld now says are there.

Mr Blair, our country holds you to your promise to sort out the Israeli/Palestinian situation before anything else.

We will not accept anything less.

FRANK LEEMING Alvaston, Derby.
