Letter: Freedom of choice.
Life is about freedom and choices; however, it appears that some are incapable of making their own decisions and choices.
I have been into many pubs, bars and restaurants where a smoking ban has been in place. In some cases, there has been an area specific for smokers and this all seemed to work extremely well. I have always had the choice to sit in a smoky atmosphere or find somewhere else.
Liverpool City Council are, in my estimation, going a bit too far and spending our hard-earned cash on ridiculous measures. In their defence, the council points out that the smoking police are being funded by central government. Well, LCC, exactly where do you suppose that money came from? Yes, from me and millions of other taxpayers in this country.
This city and country needs to get its priorities in order, and the holier-than-thou mob should think long and hard before helping to destroy the common rights of the British people.
In the end, it's not about smoking but people's rights. The future looks bleak. My advice to smokers - don't go to pubs, etc, have parties at home or maybe not because according to LCC an Englishman's home is no longer his castle.
I leave you with the thought for today that Alzheimer's costs the NHS more than all the smoking, alcohol and drug-related illnesses put together. What should we do - euthanasia at age 65?
