Letter: Exaggeration.

Byline: E.Hockenhull (Mrs)

I AM appalled at the exaggeration in Mrs E.Taylor's letter, headed ``Dogs' toilet''( DP, Aug 18).To read it,one would imagine ab out ten feet of beach with a dozen dogs all fouling there.

Nothing could have been further from the truth.

It was typical of the hysteria surrounding dogs these days.

West Kirby has miles of lovely clean golden sand. The council does a marvellous job of keeping it clean. If Mrs Taylor had to take her ``tearful'' grandchild home because she saw a pile of dog dirt, I am sorry.

There were miles of sand where she could have played. There has never been a confirmed case of blindness from toxicara. If it was so,hundreds of people who grew up with dogs would surely be blind!

Like my many friends who walk dogs on West Kirby beac h,I always pick up what they do immediately, not several minutes later.

I just wish humans would dispose of their rubb ish as quickly. I see bottles, cans and cartons left everywhere by people who make no attempt to clean up.

E.Hockenhull (Mrs), Birkenhead
