Letter: Councillors should take a stand on Tesco.

Byline: Tony Scanlon

YOUR article on the Tesco store go ahead at Cannon Park reported that only six councillors bothered to turn up to the planning meeting on this important and controversial issue.

Even worse, only four cast a vote, with two abstaining.

Surely this is too big an issue with long-term implications for the area, to be given the go ahead on the votes of just four councillors.

As regards the abstentions, we elect councillors to make decisions on our behalf and if they are so indecisive or gutless that they won't make them, they should move aside and make way for someone who will.
