Letter: Breathe some fire.

Byline: RICHARD JORDAN

SIR - I remember reading somewhere about a suggestion to construct a 50ft-high Welsh-made iron dragon breathing fire while greeting motorists as they drove into Wales across the M4 toll bridges.

Numerous towns and cities in England have already erected their own giant structures - so why not Wales?

The nation has been doing OK lately, both in the arts and on the sports field and I feel that we should boost our self esteem by funding this powerful and iconic symbol of Wales.

It always irritates me when paying a toll to the French on entering Wales, so a welcoming fire breathing Welsh dragon will ease my annoyance and restore my pride! One shouldn't expect the Welsh Assembly Government to foot the bill so maybe some fundraising event may be just what's needed.
