Security measures are causing the cancellation of lectures to Midland and other branches of the British Interplanetary Society. Until a year ago, many members considered themselves well-informed, but since the limiting of these lectures and an end to information from America, little that is new is being heard at their meetings.

Delays in ambulances answering 999 calls are now so frequent because of administrative muddles that people's lives are at risk, three West Midland ambulancemen claimed yesterday.

The severity of the weather was responsible for a singlular explosion which occurred yesterday morning at the residence of Charles Pierce, 41, Waverhill Road, Handsworth. A fire was yesterday lighted in the range, as usual, some hot water was drawn from the boiler, and about eleven o'clock, without the slightest warning, the boiler exploded.
