Letter: A spiritual life.

Byline: Elizabeth Collins

WHAT A pleasure it is to read the Thoughts for the Day from your team of writers from various faiths.

In an increasingly secular world, it is good to learn more of the spiritual side of life. But often the strength of the little column lies in the commonsense of the writer.

For example, the Rev Harry Ross, from St Luke's Church, Walton, brings home many truths without being in the least preachy

I thought his comments on Wednesday were particularly pertinent. Often you find that people with everything you could possibly want in life complain, while those who are disadvantaged make the best of everything. At a more general level, you could say that now we are an affluent society, too many people spend their time moaning. When things were really hard, we just got on with it. It's worth putting aside a few moments for the Thought for the Day.
