Letter: A sorry mess.

Byline: R Cannon

THANKS to the local CHC for highlighting the awful state of affairs at the A&E at Fazakerley hospital.

The situation has gone on for several years and seems to be going from bad to worse We no longer have a winter crisis, we appear to have a crisis 365 days a year at Fazakerley.

It's about time management tried to sort this sorry mess out.

Patients need privacy, dignity and compassion. How can you have this lying on a hospital trolley in a corridor for hours on end?

Mr Birrell, chief executive, said staff are demoralised by criticism of the A&E deparment. Has he ever thought how patients and relatives are also demoralised by long waits?

R Cannon, Liverpool 9
