Letter: A lottery concert pitch; Instruments.

Byline: DELPHINE ROE

Dear Editor, - I've often read of talented individuals being loaned valuable instruments by private societies, but at a superb recent concert by the CBSO the Finnish cellist Jan Erik Gustafsson played a wonderful old cello lent by the Finnish Cultural Foundation.

Is there an English similar body?

If not, wouldn't it be a worthwhile project to set up one out of Lottery Heritage money?

Not only would this give our most talented players access to the finest instruments, not only would the sound give joy to thousands of listeners, but also such an investment would have a rising asset valueDELPHINE ROE Birmingham
