Letter: A healthy size.

Byline: P Harvey

I THINK it is absurd that a Size 12 model can be held up as a "heroine" to children.

Size 12 is a healthy size, but it should not be described as a "plus size" as it was in yesterday's Daily Post.

That gives the implication that women who are Size 12 are overweight when the majority of them are not. Models, despite their job title, are not role models to children.

The most successful of them do not live a healthy lifestyle, often starving themselves or taking drugs to help them keep off the weight.

I am not for one moment suggesting that this is the case for the model pictured in the Daily Post; however, it is the sad truth for many in the industry.

Role models for girls should not be about the purely physical or the aesthetic, they should be successful, independent women whatever they look like.
