Let's reward good service.
WITH many of Britain's high streets feeling the pinch in recent months, National Customer Service Week (October 5-11) gives us a chance to recognise the fantastic service provided by the often unsung "high-street heroes".At Which? Local - see www.which-local.co.uk - we receive recommendations every day from people who want to tell others about the great service they've had from local traders.
From family butchers that have been serving the community for generations to new computer repair shops, our members tell us that you can find great customer care in every corner of the UK.
We've received so many glowing reviews for local businesses that this summer we launched awards to recognise the best across a variety of trades and regions.
Let's reward and support the best of the high street in these difficult times. And if you find a good local business, then spread the word.
As the old adage says: "You don't know what you've got 'til it's gone." Let's not allow this to happen to our local gems. PETE TYNAN, manager, Which?
