Let's play.

Follow Alice down the rabbit hole and get lost in a whimsical world, as St James' Court, A Taj Hotel and Taj 51 Buckingham Gate Suites and Residences launches its Afternoon Tea in Wonderland.

In conjunction with the Taj Hotels Resorts and Palaces' Kids@Taj programme, this extraordinary afternoon tea celebrates the spirit of English Classics in a literary series that launches with a bespoke 150th Anniversary Limited Edition of Lewis Carroll's iconic classic, Alice in Wonderland. St James' Court's 'English Classics, Reinvented' literary series sees classics like Alice's Adventures in Wonderland given a new lease of life, as the brand partners with UK based artists to design new covers for limited edition prints of the UK's best loved tales.

The eclectic menu of cakes and pastries is inspired by characters and quirks from Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, like 'Queen of Hearts' Mango Tarts, 'Drink Me' strawberry potion, 'Caterpillar's Mushroom' Raspberry Marshmallows, White Chocolate Mousse Teacups and Pocket Watch macaroons.

Accompanying finger sandwiches include Alice English Cucumber and Cream Cheese on Beetroot Bread, Fish Footman Tuna Mayonnaise on White Bread and Lory Cornish Yarg and Tomato with Redcurrant Jelly.

A hidden Victorian gem in the heart of the capital, St James' Courtyard is the perfect magical setting for an afternoon in Wonderland, with majestic turrets and a cherub-adorned fountain surrounded by a turn-of-the-century red brick frieze, depicting sylvan scenes from Shakespeare's plays. It is here or in Taj 51 Buckingham Gate Suites and Residences' spanking new restaurant Kona that guests are invited to indulge in this unique adventure to a private wonderland.

Guests looking for a memento or an exclusive gift can also acquire their very own hardback copy of the 150th Anniversary celebration edition of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. Commissioned by St James' Court as the first of the 'English Classics, Reinvented' literary series, launched at the preview reception of the Hay Festival 2015, this collector's edition cover is East London based designer Ethan McClean's psychedelic interpretation of Alice's journey down the rabbit hole. The illustration captures Alice's journey from our world into Wonderland, where she falls into the abstract, in an optical illusion which hypnotically pulls the reader into a strange new land.
