Lesser-known second citizenship routes for Africans: For African families seeking the prospect of a better life, the Caribbean nations of St Kitts and Nevis and Dominica offer affordable, reliable and efficient ways to obtain citizenship.

Becoming a citizen of the world is now a necessity more than ever. No matter what drives us to move abroad or expand our careers, lives or businesses outside the borders of our native countries, we start looking for intelligent solutions. We look for better education opportunities for our children, better healthcare access for our parents, a safer community to be a part of, better prospects for entrepreneurship and the security of belonging to a society where functional rule of law protects you as a responsible, law-abiding citizen. Ultimately, we search for the certainty and security of tomorrow.

At CS Global Partners, we work with governments who understand this need perfectly and are here to help find the right solution for reputable global families and individuals, regardless of their ancestry, residence or marital eligibility.

In 1984, the Caribbean dual-island nation of St Kitts and Nevis introduced its Citizenship by Investment Programme that runs to this date. For example, to become an economic citizen of St Kitts and Nevis, you can make a contribution of at least $150,000 to the Sustainable Growth Fund, which is quoted as the most straightforward route to second citizenship. The twin islands also offer a unique premium feature, called the Accelerated Application Process, which guarantees successful applicants their new citizenship--and passport issuance in 60 days or under.

The Commonwealth of Dominica also offers citizenship by investment (CBI). In fact, for two years in a row now, experts at the Financial Times have been ranking it as the best CBI programme in the world, according to their annual CBI Index, which compares all 13 active programmes on the planet. One of the main reasons it was ranked so high was because of its strong due diligence checks, scoring top marks across the industry.

There are two routes to Dominica's valuable citizenship: a contribution to the Economic Diversification Fund (EDF) or an investment in pre-approved real estate. The EDF requires $100,000 for a single applicant, while the shares in eligible properties must start at $200,000, with a small additional fee for each family member that can be included in the same application. This programme is especially suitable for larger families looking to obtain second citizenship that can be passed down to future generations.

Complete and eligible applications are processed within four months or less, as granted by Dominican legislation. As with other CBI programmes, your starting point would be choosing an authorised agent, easily accessed on the government website.

Interestingly, Dominica offers an extraordinary range of resorts and hotels to invest in under the CBI Programme, all of which are built with the nation's admirable green ethos in mind. This comprises eco-luxury villas and environmentally conscious hotels such as The Residences at Secret Bay, Jungle Bay, Marriot's Anichi Resort, Kempinski's Cabrits Resort, Hilton's Tranquility Beach and others.

Investing in your future

Lately, African families have started discovering these reputable Caribbean CBI programmes as affordable, reliable, efficient and most experienced second citizenship alternatives. As a result, these blossoming nations invest back into their countries' economic development, energy sustainability, ecotourism and furthering their already impressive diplomatic ties. All of these advancements benefit all their citizens, whether native or adoptive. Investing in them ultimately translates into investing in your own future and wellbeing.
