Leo O. Hanley, 93.

GRAFTON Leo O. Hanley, 93, of South Grafton, passed away August 5, 2008 in the love and care of his family. His wife of 50 years Mabel (Cardin) Hanley passed in 1990.

He is survived by his daughter, Doris and her husband Francis "Mickey" Metivier and his son William Hanley and his wife Beverly (Fleming) all of Grafton; three grandchildren, Michelle Metivier of North Grosvenordale CT, Melissa Goddard of Torrington CT, Jennifer Hanley of Worcester; three great grandchildren, Zachary, Hunter and Miranda Goddard all of Torrington CT; and several nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Florence Moss of Pawtucket RI. Mr. Hanley was born September 7, 1914 in Fall River the son of William and Philomene (Gaudreau) Hanley and lived most of his life in South Grafton. He served with The Civilian Conservation Corps from 1924 to 1928 and then worked 24 years for The Rockwood Sprinkler Co. in Worcester and 18 years at Wyman Gordon Co. in North Grafton retiring in 1976. Leo was a parishioner of St. James Church, a member of The United Steelworkers of America and the Wyman Gordon Pistol Club.

Mr. Hanley's family wishes to express their thanks and gratitude to the staffs of South Wing 2 at Memorial Hospital and at Autumn Village Rehabilitation Center for their loving care during Mr. Hanley's stay at each facility.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated for Leo Friday August 8th at 10 a.m in St. James Roman Catholic Church, 89 Main St. (Rt. 122A) in South Grafton. He will then be laid to rest with his wife Mabel in Fairview Cemetery in South Grafton. Calling hours are Thursday August 7th from 5 to 8 p.m in Roney Funeral Home South Chapel, 124 Main St. (Rt. 122A) in South Grafton. The family suggests donations in Leo's name to The Grafton Food Bank, c/o Grafton Municipal Center, 30 Providence Rd. Grafton MA 01519 rather than flowers.
