Lenzing to build fiber plant in China.

Fiber supplier Lenzing AG, Lenzing, Austria. has been awarded a con tract to build a 45 million pound viscose staple fiber plant in the People's Republic of China. The contract, with China Textile Machinery and Technology Import and Export Corporation (CTMTC), the state purchasing organization of the Textile Ministry, was signed in Beijing this month. The $36 million contract includes Lenzing's complete planning and layout of manufacturing equipment within the new facilities and the on-site training of staff personnel.

The new fiber facility will be located on the premises of China's Cotton Combine, in Tang-Shan, about 330 miles northeast of Beijing.
