Lego builds on Harry.

TEENAGE wizard Harry Potter built on success today after producers of his forthcoming movie signed a multimillion pound global merchandising deal with Lego.

The Danish toymaker will create nine construction sets based on Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, which begins filming later this year.

Lego's deal comes in the wake of Pottermania among book fans young and old after the release of the fourth novel in the series by JK Rowling.

The construction kit toys, aimed at six to 12-year-olds, are expected to be on shop shelves next summer, before the autumn US release of the Warner Bros movie being made by Home Alone director Chris Columbus.

Lego company president Kjeld Kirk Kristiansen said: "The fantasy world of Harry Potter mirrors the values of our products and is a natural expansion of our imaginative worlds."
