Legal service is targeted at the SME-size pocket.

Dickinson Dees has recently launched an innovative new legal support service for small to medium-size enterprises (SMEs) in the North-East.

The new service, called Kuddos, is designed to meet the legal requirements of SMEs and has been developed following extensive market research.

Feedback from SMEs showed many small businesses have felt reluctant to make the most of the excellent legal support services available in the region.

Dickinson Dees discovered there was a gap in the market for top-of-the-range legal advice, at a price that the small business- owner could afford.

Partner Simon Watts explained: "The research identified that the typical small business has to watch expenditure carefully, and understandably many shied away from the larger law firms and the best legal advice available. The Kuddos service has been created to bridge the gap between small businesses and the best legal advice around.

"Kuddos offers its clients an affordable package of fixed-price legal services, covering matters important to small and growing businesses, such as finance, property leases, contracts and employment advice."

Businesses signing up to the new service will receive the following benefits:

* A dedicated `contact manager' who provides a free individual business review as well as short, medium and long-term planning advice to help businesses grow

* A quarterly review with a contact manager

* A rapid contract review service ( a `fatal flaws' overview on any important documents or contracts that need to be urgently reviewed

* Fixed-price `surgery days'

* A free `healthcheque' (personal financial review) for owner managers ( to ensure business owners are making the most of their cash and investments

* A hotline service giving clients access to their contact manager

* A free legal audit and summary report to identify any legal issues that need addressing

* Access to a special fixed-price menu of services, giving complete transparency on how much legal services will cost

* Any services not on the fixed-price menu ( available to Kuddos clients with a substantial discount on normal Dickinson Dees rates

* Flexible fee arrangements

* Preferential rates on a host of Dickinson Dees seminars and management-training programmes

* Relevant Dickinson Dees newsletters and other publications to ensure businesses are kept up-to-date with all the latest developments.

Mr Watts said: "Kuddos is not just about legal services; it's about supporting you and your business right across the board and helping to provide a platform from which you can grow.

"The Kuddos team can use its connections to help guide young businesses when they find themselves in unfamiliar territory. We can put you in touch with others who can help such as banks, venture capitalists, business angels, government funding channels, financial advisors and other useful contacts."

Dickinson Dees employs 700 people and has offices in Newcastle and Stockton on Tees.

Its clients include private individuals, public sector organisations, major plcs and owner-managed small businesses.
