Lee puts fear into Borders.

Byline: ROBERT FAIRBURN

HORROR king Christopher Lee will be filming in Scotland later this year on a movie based on the Borders Common Ridings.

The 82-year-old Lord of the Rings star features in a new hair-raiser, May Day, which tells the story of Pagan cults who turn the Common Ridings into fear festivals.

The pounds 11million movie, which was originally called The Riding of the Laddie, follows two visiting America Christians who attempt to convert pagans to the word of God.

Lee will be re-united once again with legendary Wicker Man director Robin Hardy, who has also recruited the services of Sean Aston and Vanessa Redgrave for the new film.

Hardy said: "Christopher Lee, Sean Aston and Vanessa Redgrave are all committed to the project - so it's looking good."

Filming is due to take place at various locations in the Borders as well as in Glasgow and America.
