Lee Enterprises Incorporated (NYSE:LEE), a provider of local news and information, and a major platform for advertising, on Monday announced the appointment of Michael R Gulledge as the company's vice president of sales and marketing.

In his new role, Gulledge will be responsible for leading revenue growth in more than 50 markets across 23 US states.

The company said that Gulledge will continue as publisher of Billings Gazette Communications in Montana and that a successor VP of publishing will be selected soon.

Also, Gulledge will continue as an operating VP during a brief transition. In addition to Billings, he currently oversees 18 daily newspapers and digital operations in California, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New York, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Utah, Washington and Wyoming.

Gulledge, who began his career with Lee in 1982 as a college intern at The Southern Illinoisan, was elected as an officer and operating VP in 2005. He has been the publisher of Billings Gazette since 2000. Prior to that he was publisher Herald & Review in Decatur and before that general manager at the Herald & Review in Decatur. Earlier he has served as advertising manager at The Southern Illinoisan, advertising manager at the Herald & Review in Decatur and advertising manager at the Quad-City Times in Davenport.
