Lebanon cabinet approves reduction in internet pricing.

The Lebanon cabinet has approved a reduction in internet pricing. Telecom Minister Jamal Jarrah said that the new price for a 4 megabit per second, unlimited DSL package is LL90,000 ($60) reports Lebanese daily, The Daily Star .

The Telecoms Ministry had originally proposed this package to be priced at LL 120,000. Jarrah added that following the reduction approvals, this matter depends on two things: the fibre optic network project, which has been suspended for over three years, and the price of E1 high speed digital links for providers. It will also be vital for Ogero to work around improving the networks.

Jarrah further added that tenders for new telephone networks in Lebanon will be announced this week.
