Lebanese army thwarts attack by gunmen northeastern Lebanon.
BEIRUT, March 2 (KUNA) -- Lebanese Army thwarted an infiltration attempt by armed men into Al-Qaa's outskirts north-eastern mountains late Sunday, the official Lebanese National News Agency (NNA) said on Monday. The Army troops used heavy artillery and flares during the operation, the NNA said, adding that the regulars carried out a series of raids in Ras Baalbek and Arsal towns in search for ammunition and weapons, on the background of the fall of two shells last night on the outskirts of Ras Baalbeck. Earlier on Sunday, a Lebanese Army unit raided mills and quarries facing the location of Wadi al-Hosn on Ersal outskirts, demolishing fortifications that have been set up by armed groups. Inside the fortifications, the troops found and confiscated drugs, injection needles, military equipment and money. (end) aib.ha
