Leatherhead Food RA have updated their Handbook on the Labelling of Genetically Modified Foods, Ingredients and Additives to May 2000.

It is intended to shed light on the question of whether the packaging of a product containing genetically modified foods, ingredients or additives must carry a particular declaration or not. The Handbook also provides a global perspective on the regulation of genetically modified foods, giving details of the legislation on such foods in many countries around the world. The book explains how Codex Standards are developed and provides details of the Codex proposal on the labelling of foods obtained through biotechnology and the outcome of the latest discussions on the proposal. Leatherhead have also published Part 2, Contaminants in Foodstuffs - An International Review of Maximum Limits.

It is designed as a reference document to assist all those who need to comply with the technical legislation relating to contaminants in foodstuffs. Key features include heavy metals, other elements and inorganic compounds, halogenated organic compounds, other organic compounds, Mycotoxins, and other toxins and contaminants. The 4th Edition of Leatherhead's Guide to Food Regulations in the Middle East has been published. The survey fulfils a need by providing exporters with a consolidated and comprehensive guide to food regulations in this region.
