Learned Information, Inc. names Marydee Ojala as new editor of Marketing Library Services.

Tom Hogan, president of Learned Information, Inc. of Medford, New Jersey, has appointed Marydee Ojala to the post of editor of Marketing Library Services.

Published specifically for librarians, Marketing Library Services (MLS) is a marketing and management newsletter which provides valuable "how-to" information about effective marketing tactics and techniques for today's libraries and information centers.

MLS covers numerous examples of effective positioning strategies, budget approaches, and names of other professionals who faced the same challenges and met them successfully. Based primarily on actual case histories, MLS examines how other colleagues developed charge-back strategies, expanded their services, and successfully developed a department when budgets were tight and competition increased. MLS informs readers how to identify tactics in making speeches, get publicity, build a reputation for innovation and responsiveness, and keep careers on a competitive track.

Ms. Ojala holds a bachelor's degree from Brown University, an M.L.S. from the University of Pittsburgh, and has also done graduate work in Business Administration at Golden Gate University. Along with her academic credentials, Ojala has over twenty years of library experience in both the corporate and academic arenas, namely the Bank of America, Stanford University, and West Virginia University.

Ojala, a member of the editorial advisory board and regular contributor to MLS since 1987, is a regular columnist for Online, Database, and Business Information Al//ert. She writes feature articles for Information Today, Searcher, Link-Up Information World Review, Online Access, and other journals. She is a regulan presenter of seminars on electronic information retrieval at international congresses and was an adjunct professor at the University of Missouri Graduate School of Library and Informational Studies.

Ojala is past president of the Heart of America chapter of the Special Libraries Association and Chair of the Professional Development Committee of the Association of Independent Information Professionals. She has won the UMI/Data Courier Award for Excellence in Writing, and the Information Access Company Information Authorship Award and has also been featured in articles in Ingram's Kansas City Business Journal and Personal Computing.

Since 1987, Ojala has owned and operated her own company which provides business research, competitor intelligence, and information consulting services. Additionally, she provides information assessment services and information quality audits for all types of organizations.

Learned Information, Inc., founded in 1979, is a prominent publisher in the field of information science and technology. The company is probably best known as the publisher of Information Today and as the organizer of the National Online Meeting, the largest meeting of its kind in North America.
